According to Shahriar Heidari, a member of the Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, the US is a source of pirates and terrorists, as proven by the event, for which Iran will submit a protest with the appropriate authorities.

Heidari accused Washington of breaking marine norms and international agreements. Such inflammatory activities, he warned, only exacerbate tensions and pose a risk to shipping.

Countries having US bases in the vicinity, he added, should be aware that the goal of American forces is to destabilize the region.

In another section of his speech, he congratulated Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps' maritime division for preventing the seizure of the Iranian ship.

He said that Washington tried to demonstrate dominance but ended up humiliated.
