Another member of the Rust team is in the hospital, where surgeons are trying to preserve his arm after being bitten by a spider.

After cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was mistakenly shot dead by Alec Baldwin on October 21, Jason Miller, a light operator and pipe rigger, was attempting to wind down production of the picture.

Mr Miller was bitten by a brown recluse spider, a deadly spider common to North America, according to a Just Giving page. He was on the set of Rust in New Mexico when he was bitten.

The fundraising page says: "He has been hospitalized and endured multiple surgeries each day as doctors do their best to stop the infection and try to save his arm from amputation.

"It will be a very long road to recovery for Jason if the medical team is able to save his arm.

"If under worse circumstances he loses his arm, this is a life-changing and devastating event for Jason and his family."

A spokesperson for the Rust producers, including Mr Baldwin, said: "We do not comment on individual members of the cast and crew's private matters."

It comes after a former member of the film's crew claimed that he had "never felt as close to death" on work as he did in the days leading up to Ms Hutchins' death.
Lane Luper, the production's lead camera operator, quit the day before his buddy and cinematographer Ms Hutchins was killed.

Mr Luper stated in his resignation letter to a production manager, which was obtained by Sky News, that he was leaving due to worries about the safety and welfare of the crew.

Mr Luper highlighted two accidental firearm discharges and one accidental discharge of special effects explosives in the days leading up to Ms Hutchins' death in an email to unit production manager Row Walters.
