Jamie Spears has demanded that his daughter Britney Spears' 13-year Conservatorship be terminated immediately.

Jamie's attorney Alex Weingarten writes in new court records obtained by PEOPLE on Nov. 1 that the 69-year-old believes "Britney's recent testimony and requests to take personal control of her estate and affairs have made clear that continuing the Conservatorship is contrary to her desires."

As a result, "Jamie sees no reason why the Conservatorship should continue for any amount of time and asserts he has no interest in the Conservatorship continuing."

According to Weingarten, Jamie's request is "unconditional," and he "does not make this request subject to a demand for releases or compensation."

"Jamie adores and supports his daughter without reservation. There is no more to say. Jamie will do everything he can to protect and care for her, just as he has for her entire life "Weingarten is an author. "That included serving as her Conservator for the past 13 years. It now marks the end of her Conservatorship."

Jamie's plea comes just days after Britney's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, claimed in documents filed on Oct. 28 that Jamie had ulterior intentions to abruptly switch his position on Britney's Conservatorship two months ago after years of insisting on insisting that it was required.

According to the filings, two weeks before Jamie, he filed a petition to end Britney's 13-year Conservatorship on Sept. 7. He got discovery requests from Rosengart seeking information about the role of the estate's previous business manager Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group.

Rosengart, who requested Jamie's deposition on Oct. 1, questioned whether Jamie was "motivated by a desire to bolster his reputation or to avoid his deposition or responding to the outstanding discovery served on him in August." according to the court records.

Jamie "has nothing to hide regarding his administration of Britney's estate." according to Weingarten's court filing on Monday.

"Indeed, Jamie believes that every aspect of the Conservatorship should be made available for public examination – not the targeted leaks and misinformation that have resulted in such tabloid fodder," according to the records. "Accordingly, Jamie affirms that he will unconditionally cooperate in transferring all files regarding the estate to Britney's counsel without delay."

Britney's next court appearance is scheduled on Nov. 12 and is expected to center on the possibility of terminating her Conservatorship, which Britney, 39, also filed a petition to terminate in September.

In court records, Rosengart stated, "After more than a decade, the time has come for Ms. Spears's freedom," "Ms. Spears has expressed her desire to stop the conservatorship she has been subjected to for so long, pleading with this Court to "let her have her life back" without an evaluation, lately attending two Court hearings and asking this Court to end the Conservatorship on her own. It is humbly urged that the time has come – with the permission of all parties."

Jamie stood down as his daughter's Conservator in late 2019 after 13 years in the position. (While Jamie remained as Conservator of Britney's estate, Jodi Montgomery, Britney's longstanding care manager, took over as Conservator of her person, responsible for medical decisions.)

Britney campaigned in Court for her father to be removed from her Conservatorship in the months that followed. "she is very hopeful," a source previously told PEOPLE, after achieving her request in September (accountant John Zabel is currently temporarily in Jamie's post). "Britney thinks everything will be totally different with Jamie out of her life."

Jamie, for one, has defended his role as Conservator of Britney's estate, insisting that he has always had her best interests at heart.

"Mr. Spears is completely devoted to his daughter Britney. He has spent the last 13 years trying to do what is best for her, whether as a conservator or as her father "Jamie's previous lawyer Vivian L. Thoreen stated on Sept. 30.

"When she willingly entered into the Conservatorship, she agreed to serve as her Conservator. This included assisting her in resurrecting her job and re-establishing contact with her children "the statement went on to say, "For anyone who has tried to help a family member dealing with mental health issues, they can appreciate the tremendous amount of daily worry and work this required."

"Despite the suspension, Mr. Spears will continue to look out for the best interests of his daughter and work in good faith towards a positive resolution of all matters," the statement ended.
