Sergio Aguero was brought to the hospital for examinations after complaining of "chest pain" after Barcelona's 1-1 draw with Alaves in their first encounter following Ronald Koeman's dismissal.

Aguero collapsed holding the top of his chest and was treated for many minutes before being carried off the field just before halftime.

Barcelona subsequently stated that he was brought to the hospital for a "cardiac checkup."

After Memphis Depay's first curling attempt, Alaves earned a point thanks to Luis Rioja.

The Argentine made his first appearance for the club after joining in the summer.

Aguero joined Barcelona on a two-year contract after spending ten years at Manchester City when he became the club's all-time record goalscorer with 260 goals in 390 appearances.

Barcelona is in the ninth position, eight points behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, who defeated Elche 2-1 earlier on Saturday.

In front of little over 37,000 fans at the Nou Camp, interim coach Sergi Barjuan's team came close to opening the scoring in the first half when Eric Garcia's downward header was saved by Alaves goalkeeper Antonio Sivera.

Soon after Alaves' equalizer, Depay was inches from regaining Barcelona's advantage, but he could only direct his attempt from Gavi's feed against the post.

Philippe Coutinho, who came in late in the first half to replace Aguero, stung Sivera's hands with a dipping shot as the visitors earned their first point at the Nou Camp since 2016.
