Climate change, according to US intelligence agencies, is an imminent danger to national security because it will exacerbate conflicts and encourage migration.

According to documents released on Thursday by the departments of Homeland Security and Defense, as well as the National Security Council and the director of national intelligence, rising temperatures, and sea levels will generate significant worldwide instability.

Food and drinking water shortages, for example, might lead to riots, while competition for fish, minerals, and other natural resources would intensify, according to the Pentagon.

According to another estimate, tens of millions of people would be displaced by climate change by 2050, including 143 million people in South Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Latin America.

President Joe Biden is preparing to visit the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, United Kingdom, in ten days.

Joe Biden's main initiative to minimize the consequences of climate change is currently blocked in Congress owing to internal Democratic Party disputes, with little progress to present to the world community.

The warnings will serve as the foundation for work in that area, according to a statement released by the White House on Thursday.
