Between September 12th and September 28th, the General Authority for Forensic Medicine in Syria documented 147 deaths, most of which were caused by road accidents, murders, and suicides.

According to Zaher Hajjo, director of the General Authority for Forensic Medicine in Damascus, the majority of the deaths were caused by 41 road accidents.

In Syria, the Authority reported 21 homicides, 15 arson events, seven drownings, and 14 other reasons of death ranging from electrocution to suicide.

Homicide is the second-most common cause of death, with recent grenade assaults also being reported.

"The use of grenades in incidents is frightening and dangerous, but it is a one-time occurrence that will not be repeated," Hajjo added.

"In Syria, we have not yet reached the stage of organized crime," he told local radio station Sham FM.

The increased discussion of gun-related homicides on social media platforms, according to Hajjo, "leads to the spread of the idea and the proliferation of cases between people."

Although "very limited ownership of grenades in homes across the country," Hajjo emphasized that there have been few grenade-related deaths. Gunshots have been responsible for the majority of these deaths.

According to the Ministry of Interior, a woman was killed, and nine others were injured in the Nahr Aisha area of Damascus. Following a family feud, the woman's husband threw a detonating grenade in front of her family's home, injuring the victims.

A grenade attack in front of the Justice Palace killed two individuals and injured several more just a few days earlier in Tartous. According to the Ministry of Interior, the incident was sparked by family problems.
