Nico Ali Walsh, Muhammad Ali's grandson, won his professional boxing debut by TKO on Saturday night.
Ali Walsh, 21, defeated Jordan Weeks (4-2) after the fight was stopped at 1:49 of the first round by the referee.
"This exceeded all of my expectations," Ali Walsh stated after the fight in an in-ring interview.
Ali Walsh fired a flurry of blows in the first round, prompting an eight-count. While the referee permitted the battle to continue, it didn't last long, as Ali Walsh landed a barrage of blows on Weeks, who was clearly outmatched.
The battle, which took place at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma, was a four-round middleweight bout.
Ali Walsh is the first grandchild of boxing icon Joe Frazier to compete professionally.
Ali Walsh stated, "Obviously my grandfather, I've been thinking about him so much." "I'm missing him." And it's all an emotional rollercoaster."
Ali Walsh has signed a multi-fight contract with Top Rank Boxing, which is owned by famed promoter Bob Arum, as well as an Everlast endorsement deal.
He believed he had roughly 30 amateur fights under his belt and stated he decided to turn pro after spending a few months in Big Bear, California, training with well-known trainer Abel Sanchez. Ali Walsh began working with SugarHill Steward, who trainers heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, after signing with Top Rank Boxing.
