Two gunmen fired more than 40 shots of bullets in New York City which injured at least 10 people, the police said on Sunday.
The New York City Police department said that the victims of the brazen gang-related shooting were aged between 19 to 72 and are expected to survive.
The NYPD said that 7 of the 10 victims were innocent bystanders, including the 72-year-old.
"An initial report shows two males approached eastbound on the sidewalk on the north side of 37th Avenue from 97th Street while brandishing firearms," Assistant Chief Galen Frierson, of the NYPD's Patrol Borough Queens North, said in quotes by CNN.
"The shooters advanced toward the crowd, firing numerous shots before jumping back on two scooters driven by two other males and fleeing the scene," Frierson added.
The gunfire hit people outside a barbershop as well as innocent bystanders, including people celebrating a birthday party for a nearby restaurant owner, NYPD Chief of Detectives James Essig said.
At least 37 bullet shell casings were found, but Essig said police were combing the scene of the crime for evidence and suspect the shooters fired more shots.
Police are now on the hunt for the four gunmen they suspect are behind the shooting. They are described as males who were hooded sweatshirts and face masks.
