After photos of him with three women surfaced, Wayne Rooney issued an emotional apology to his wife, children, and Derby County squad.
The 35-year-old was photographed conversing with a mystery woman in a nightclub before being photographed in a hotel room by social media beauty Tayler Ryan and her pals Elise Melvin and Brooke Morgan, all 21.
There is no evidence that Wayne did anything wrong or acted in an inappropriate manner.
However, the photographs appeared to distract his wife Coleen, 35, as she made the most of the bright Welsh weather with her sons Kai, 11, Klay, eight, Kit, five, and Cass, three, as well as her parents, who were not present.
"I made a mistake," Wayne admitted to Sky Sports after Derby's 1-0 friendly win over Real Betis. With two of my buddies, I attended a private party.
"On behalf of myself, I apologize to my family and the club for the photographs that were circulated.
"I'd like to make progress on this." I'm grateful to Derby County for providing me this chance to return this club to its rightful place. I'll do everything I can to make that happen."
"Listen, I don't really want to...," he said when asked if he felt like he was the actual victim of the scenario.
"Yeah, but I'm not interested in getting into that."
"Listen, it's dealt with and I'm looking forward to moving forward and preparing for another game on Sunday."
"Coleen is feeling hugely let down," an insider alleged. "It was the absolute last thing she needed, and she's furious." "Wayne should have known better," says the narrator.
"Coleen has gone away to escape it all," our source stated, referring to Coleen's Welsh retreat.
"All she wants to do is clear her mind." Wayne, she continued, needs to mature, and she's tired of it."
"She's thinking to herself, 'How many more chances can she give him?' Wayne has been given a major wake-up call."
