More than 120,000 ordered to evacuate as heavy rain hits southern Japan

Amid the Heavy rain in the southern part of Japan, the Japanese government ordered the evacuation of more than 120,000 residents in the region.

The news comes just days after a deadly mudslide struck the Atami town on the southwest of Tokyo.

The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its highest rain alerts in three prefectures on Kyushu island, prompting some local governments to order the evacuation of the residents.

Heavy rain in the Kyushu region has been followed by floods, landslide and the mudslide.

Police and firefighters have been ordered to stay alert for further consequences.
