Public Health Institute for Germany lifted the travel ban on India, UK, Portugal, and Spain on Monday saying the countries are no longer "areas of variant concern"
The ease in restrictions means people from those countries can visit Germany, however, would be quarantined for 10 days after arrival.
The quarantine period can be shortened to 5 days if they test negative for COVID 19. Those who have been vaccinated with full dose will not have to be quarantined.
The decision will be effective from Wednesday.
Before the lifting of restrictions, the people from four countries were not allowed to travel to Germany, unless they were residents. Residents of Germany would have required mandatory 14 days of quarantine on arrival.
