In the air attack on Iran bordering the Western province of Afghanistan, at least fifty Taliban had been killed by the Afghans on Tuesday, officials reported, as a deadly turf war rages in Afghanistan.

A Herat Governor's Speaker, JailaniFarhad, said to the Anadolu Agency that tens of Taliban were planning to invade the district of PashtonZarghon with an explosive car. However, before they were able to carry out their plans, the Afghan soldiers attacked them.

"Intelligence sources showed that in this raid there were at least 50 Taliban armed insurgents murdered and many more injured," he claimed.

In a flurry of tweets on Tuesday the Ministry of Defense stated that in the past 24 hours about 300 rebels have been killed in the counter-terrorist offense.

"The terrorists were murdered in 234# Taliban and 103 more wounded in Logar, Nangarhar, Paktika, Khost, Kandahar, Kabul, Faryab, Balkh, Samangan, Helmand, Takhar, Baghlan, Parwan, Kunduz, and Kabu in the last 24 hours as a result of operations by the #ANDSF (national defense and security force for Afghanistan)"' read a tweet.

Kabul's claims are rejected by the Taliban and 5 more regions are caught.

The advancing Taliban declared on Tuesday that they were in charge of the Chahar Dara, Imam Saheb, Chora, Nahreen, or Maiwand districts.

Speaker Zabihullah Mujahed, who was Taliban spokesman, denied the government's allegation that their forces had conquered certain areas.

'The opponent of the mercenaries frequently claimed that in Takhar and Balkh province Doshi was taken back by them, in Baghlan, Bangi, and Khaja Ghar.

We have information from all walks of life, the enemy has spread, has occupied no location," he said.

In another tweet, Mujahid says, "While only imagination and Facebook recapture of districts have failed to act in practical ways.

The new Ministers of Interior and Defense were appointed by Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani last week and the Taliban have claimed to be taking over seven further districts. The security forces, however, announced that 260 rebels would be put to death in the aftermath of hostilities.

"The Taliban must choose: do you want a permanent, just peace based on a dignified political solution in the future, or do you want hostility which will be strongly addressed by this nation? There should be no mistake about this," Ghani remarked.

'Taliban control 107, 398 districts government 92'

The Taliban hold 107 of the 398 districts in Afghanistan, 92, and 199 are contested, according to the Long War Journal.

The newspaper reports that the vast majority of Afghans reside in governed (almost 12 million) areas, in Taliban (about 6 million) regions, and in disputed regions (around 15 million).

The Afghan military has experienced a rise in the country's fatal Taliban strikes since US President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal date of Sept., causing increasing losses on all sides.
