According to Russian news, Russian forces barred the way of a military patrol on Saturday in north-eastern Syria for alleged violation of a security protocol.

After the intervention of Russian soldiers, State-owned media RT, which quoted Kurdish sources, four US armored vehicles were returned on the M4 road 10 kilometers west of Tal Tamr, Hasaka region.

This was supposedly the result of the US breaching current Moscow/Washington security standards.

Russia stated that the US did not provide the military movements with a prior notification according to a "disengagement" agreement.

There have been tensions between both sides in Syria, particularly in July when US military forces in Hassakeh prevented a Russian military patrol.

In 2015, Russia intervened to aid dictator President Bashar Assad in pushing back opposition factions when his regime started losing ground.

The Russian military presence in the nation remains considerable.
