Damien Tarel, the man accused of slapping French President Emmanuel Macron in the face, is a medieval Live Action Roleplay (LARP) geek with replica weapons, roleplaying games, and a Soviet Union flag, according to reports.

According to news reports, Tarel was the man caught on tape shouting "Down with Macron-ism!" and hitting Macron in the face during the president's visit to Drome on Tuesday.

Tarel was apprehended shortly after, along with his friend ‘Arthur C.,' and police searched both of their residences in the neighborhood.
