The Nigerian Government has banned Twitter's operations in the country indefinitely.
Minister for Information and Culture Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said that the country had “suspended, indefinitely, the operations of the microblogging and social networking service, Twitter, in Nigeria.”
The statement, posted on the ministry’s official Twitter account, cited “the persistent use of the platform for activities that are capable of undermining Nigeria’s corporate existence.”
The suspension followed Twitter deleting Nigerian President Muhammad Buhari's post in which he said the regional secessionists won't be tolerated.
The government has said that the ban will be enforced strictly and effectively. Reuters reported that a ministerial aide said, “wait and see how things will turn out” when asked how the suspension would be enforced.
