The French Government has introduced mandatory quarantine regulations for travelers from the UK to halt the spread of the Indian Variant of the Coronavirus.
France joined the other EU nations on Wednesday to mandate the quarantine, although the length of quarantine is yet to be confirmed. The UK had recorded a spike in the cases of the Indian variant of Coronavirus, which almost trebled within seven days to reach 3,424.
The more transmittable Indian variant over time is expected to dominate the UK, England's Chief Medical professor Chris Whitty said.
Germany has imposed a two weeks quarantine over UK and Austria has banned direct flights from the UK starting June 1.
France, Germany, and Austria are on the UK's "amber" list, meaning that the government advises against travel there and passengers must enter quarantine on return.
Spain, which is also on the Amber list of the UK, has, however, decided to loosen the travel restrictions for travelers from the UK.
