Sushil Kumar, a two-time Olympic medalist, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of a fellow Indian wrestler, according to Delhi police.

Kumar and a second man arrested for the same offense later appeared in court, according to a Delhi Police spokesperson, who did not elaborate on the possible charges.

Kumar denied any wrongdoing in an anticipatory bail application he filed with a Delhi court last week, but it was denied.

After a brawl outside Delhi's Chhatrasal Stadium on May 4, Delhi Police released a lookout notice for Kumar.

Following the incident, three people were taken to the hospital, with one of them, a former junior national champion, succumbing to his injuries.

Even at the age of 37, Kumar is regarded as the face of Indian wrestling. In the 2012 Olympics, he won a silver medal, and in the 2008 Olympics, he won a bronze.
