On Sunday, a cable car crashed on a mountain near Lake Maggiore in northern Italy, killing nine people.
The accident occurred on a service carrying passengers from Stresa, a resort town in Piedmont, up the nearby Mottarone range.

Officials claim two girls, aged five and nine, were flown to a Turin hospital by helicopter.
A spokesperson for Italy's alpine rescue service reported to the Reuters news agency that they are the only survivors of 11 passengers who were on board when the cable car crashed.

The cause of the accident is unknown, but local reports say that the cable carrying it may have broken about 300 meters (984 feet) from the summit.
