House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has been calling to boycott the Winter Olympics saying "Silence is inexcusable."
The Beijing Winter Olympics has drawn controversy in recent times amid the cold war between the United States and China. China's unequal treatment of the Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region has drawn criticisms from the West.
The West has also claimed that China has been "conducting a genocide" against the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority in the Xinjiang region. China, on the other hand, has denied the claims of unjust or unequal treatment and has said The re-education camps serve a better purpose and they are not exploiting.
Speaker Pelosi has now said that the Government should make Diplomatic Efforts to boycott the Winter Olympics 2022 which is going to be held in China.
The US Olympic and Paralympic Committee has been saying that Politics should be kept out of the sports and the Olympic participation should not be boycotted.
The Beijing Games are scheduled to begin on February 4 next year, six months after the Summer Olympics in Tokyo are due to end.
