France and Egypt are the most recent countries to demand an end to the bloodshed in Gaza between Israel and Palestinian militants.
The Élysée Palace said in a statement that French President Emmanuel Macron and his Egyptian counterpart, Abdul Fattah al-Sisi, "share a deep concern about the continuing escalation of violence and deplore the many civilian casualties."
They also agreed to coordinate efforts to negotiate a "fast truce," with representatives from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, and the United Nations seeking to resolve the crisis.
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is in Paris for a Sudan summit.
