In a shooting at Providence, Rhodes Island, which is believed to be the largest in the city's history, three people have be been critically injured and 6 others have been injured.
Providence Police Chief Hugh T Clements told that the shooting took place just before 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Shooting began with gunfire emanating from a vehicle, targeting a home and multiple guns were used. It involved an “ongoing feud” involving groups known to authorities, Clements said according to the Associated Press. A person inside the home, then, returned fire which escalated the situation.
The incident took place in the southeastern neighborhood of Washington Park. Clements described the neighborhood as a "typically private neighborhood."
Police found several dozens of bullet shell casings littered on the ground, indicating dozens of shots were fired.
No arrests have been made as the investigation is in the early stage, Clements told. The victims at the hospital are between that age of 19 to 25 and are being interviewed.
