Indian Government decided to shut the criticisms of its response to the second wave of the pandemic but not in a nice way. The Government of India ordered popular social media Twitter to remove the contents criticizing the response of the Indian Government to the coronavirus Pandemic.
It has been reported that the government has sent a legal notice to Twitter ordering the country to remove tweets criticizing the government's response to the second wave of the country.
The second wave of the COVID has badly struck the South Asian country and the country is struggling to resist the wave as it is resulting crisis of oxygen and hospitals are forced to turn away patients.
Twitter confirmed receiving two legal notices under the Information technology act, 2000. Twitter said that it honored the notices and it confirmed that it withheld the tweets instead of removing them.
These tweets will now not be accessible in India. However, they can be accessed from outside the country.
Back in February, the Modi Government had ordered Twitter to remove tweets that criticized the Indian Government and its response to the handling of farmer's protests.
