American TV personality, Caitlyn Jenner, begins her campaign for California governor.

If elected Jenner would be the female and the first transgendered governor of California. That will also add to the history of Hollywood celebrities being a governor of California.

Previously, Arnold Schwarzenegger had been elected as the governor of California from 2003 to 2011.

The 71-year-old said in a statement posted on social media Friday that the Democratic governor's "over-restrictive lockdown" during the pandemic has devastated small business and deprived children of in-class schooling, adding: "I am a proven winner and the only outsider who can put an end to Gavin Newsom's disastrous time as governor."

Jenner is also a retired Olympic gold-medal-winning decathlete.

She won the Olympic Gold Medal as Willian Bruce Jenner before her transition into Caitlyn, while she was 26 in 1976.
