Duck Duck Go has announced its plans to block Google's new tracking method FLoC, Federated Learning of Cohorts.
Duck Duck Go also said that FLoC is concerning because FLoC is not optional and all Chrome users automatically opted 'yes' to it.
Google has said that FLoC offers more privacy and tracks data at a group level, rather than at an individual level.
“We’re disappointed that, despite the many publicly voiced concerns with FLoC that have not yet been addressed, Google is already forcing FLoC upon users without explicitly asking them to opt-in. We’re nevertheless committed and will continue to do our part to deliver on our vision of raising the standard of trust online,” Duck Duck Go said.
Google launched FLoC two weeks ago. Duck Fuck is planning to block it in its search engine and chrome extension.
Duck Duck Go's update is not live yet as it is waiting for approval from Google. Google has to approve the extensions before they are made available for users to download.
