Residents said that no protest was taking place nearby or at the facility when the regime forces opened fire on civilians on Monday.

Myanmar Now reported more than 300 troops raided the facility who arrived with heavy weapons in more than a dozen of trucks.

The complex is home to thousands of government workers and retired pensioners.

Myanmar Now reported that there could be more causalities in the facility.

The death toll under Myanmar's military regime since the February 1 coup has crossed 254.
