The first tweet of Twitter founder Jack Dorsey has been bought by a Malaysia-based businessman for USD 2.9 Million.

The tweet, which read“just setting up my twttr,” was first published on March 21-2006, was auctioned off by Dorsey for charity.

“This is not just a tweet!” buyer Sina Estavi posted on Twitter. “I think years later people will realize the true value of this tweet, like the Mona Lisa painting.”

The tweet was bought on Monday by Bitcoin's rival Ether Cryptocurrency.

After purchasing the tweet, Istavi received an NFT token that keeps track of who owns any digital thing.

Dorsey said he would convert the proceeds to bitcoin and then donate them to the Give Directly's Africa Response fund.
