The US airports saw the largest number of travelers on Friday since last March. Just a year after the WHO declaring COVID-19 as a global Pandemic, the US airports witnessed 1.357 million people traveling, which is more than any day since March 2020.
The news comes as a relief to the country's aviation and travel industry which has gone through a tough year since the declaration of the Pandemic.
The Transportation Security Administration revealed the figures. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC has warned against the non-essential flights.
“We know that after mass travel, after vacations, after holidays, we tend to see a surge in cases,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said last Monday.
The vaccination rollouts have been increasing and the US president Plans to make the inoculation available for everyone by May.
