Japan extends the state of emergency in the capital Tokyo.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced the extension of the state of emergency in the Tokyo metropolitan area on Friday. He said the crisis period had to be extended as the coronavirus epidemic was out of control.

Prime Minister Suga informed that the state of emergency has been extended till March 21. He said the crisis would extend to the capital, Tokyo, as well as to nearby Kangwa, Chiba, and Saitama.

He decided to extend the crisis in consultation with a task force set up by the government to manage the Corona epidemic. This is the second time Prime Minister Suga has extended the state of emergency. He declared a state of emergency last January. He also called on all to be vigilant as the daily number of people infected with the coronavirus has not decreased.

Health experts and local government officials also stressed the need to prolong the crisis as there is a risk of further outbreaks. Despite the imposition of the state of emergency, flexibility has been adopted in some areas, officials said.

Bars and restaurants are open for a while, but basic precautions are required. Gathering and crowded activities are completely banned. Another 301 people were infected in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, on Friday alone.
