The US president Joe Biden warned Iran to tread carefully in Iraq following a US airstrike in Syria which the US claims to be bases of Iran-backed militias.

Addressing reporters in Houston, Texas, President Biden told the reporters that he was trying to send a message to Iran by carrying out the airstrikes. He said, “Be Careful.”

Two F-15 eagles dropped seven precision-guided bombs, which destroyed nine-facilities and severely damaged two in eastern Syria on Thursday. This is the first time Biden has formally spoken about the incident.

American Officials defend the attack as a counter-attack to the attacks on US military bases in Iraq.

However, some people are criticizing Biden saying he went a bit too far by ordering the strikes. Even members of his own democratic party are criticizing Biden for this.

Senator Tim Kaine, a member of both the Armed Services and Foreign Relations committees released a statement on Friday in which he said that the American people deserve to hear the Biden Administration’s rationale and legal justification for ordering strikes “without coming to Congress.

He also called the military action “not constitutional” as it was done without congressional approval.

Pentagon and the White House officials, however, have said that Biden was well within rights to attack.

“When threats are posed, he has the right to take any action at the time and in the manner of his choosing,” The White House press secretary told reporters accompanying Mr. President on the trip to Houston.

Pentagon has said that congressional leaders had been notified before the strike launched.

Pentagon spokesperson John Kirby said that the attacks were meant to help protect from future attacks.

“We are confident that these were legitimate targets,” he added.

He said that the targets were chosen carefully and deliberately, “and stuck in exactly same manner.”

At least 17 people have been reported to be killed at the attack.
