A zoo worker in Spain got killed by an elephant after being struck by an elephant’s trunk.

The local officials said that the female elephant weighing around 4,000 kg hit a 44-year-old man with the trunk on Wednesday.

The incident happened at Cabarceno Natural Park near the northern city of Santander. The man died in hospital from his injuries, three hours later.

The zoo is owned by the regional government of Cantabria. The tourism minister for the region, Javier Lopez Marcano said that the force of the strike was such tremendous that the one could not survive.

Authorities said they had opened the investigation.

This is the first time in the history of the park, for any incidents like this.
