The aircraft flying from Hong Kong to Madrid as a cargo-only flight had to be diverted to the Russian capital for landing on Friday morning.

The Boeing 777 operated by Russian carrier Rossiya Airlines had to make an emergency landing in Moscow after it suffered engine problems.

Rossiya airlines confirmed the incident in a statement.

The news comes less than a week after a United Airlines Boeing 777 had to make a return to Denver after its debris started to fall off following the engine failure.

The aircraft made landing on Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow.

The statement from the airlines read, “The crew of the plane requested to make the emergency landing. The landing took place normally.”

The airlines also notified that the plane will resume its flight to Madrid after Friday noon (Moscow Time).
