According to Afghanistan's Ministry of Defense, at least 15 Taliban militants have been killed in an operation by government security forces in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province.
A statement from the ministry said the army acted based on information about Taliban fighters gathering in Dand and Arghandab districts of Kandahar on Wednesday. According to the statement, the gathering was to attack the Army camps.
Three other Taliban fighters were also wounded in the operation. The Defense Ministry says the Afghan Air Force has also helped with the military operation.
A car bomb and three motorcycles of the militants have been recovered by the Afghan Army.
The security in the Kandahar region has improved significantly in the past few months after the army launched a search and seize operations.
However, the Taliban still has a strong presence in this region and has been carrying out attacks against the army and other authorities.
The Taliban has not commented on the incident.
