After more than 24 hours of public silence since his supporters stormed the Capitol, President Donald Trump released a short video where he blasted the 'heinous' attack and called for national 'healing' and an 'orderly' and 'seamless' transition to a new administration.

In an astonishing change of tone which came minutes after it was revealed that a cop had died after defending the Capitol from the MAGA mob - four of whom are now dead too - he admitted the reality that 'there will be a new administration.'

He tweeted the video after being banned from Twitter for dangerous rhetoric and as he faced new calls for his impeachment and for Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.
