Joaquin Phoenix will meet Ridley Scott in a historical drama that will play Napoleon Bonaparte.

The winner of the Oscar will play the military leader and emperor in Kitbag, which, according to Deadline at the beginning of the 1800s, will demonstrate his progress towards success during the French Revolution and his subsequent domination of Europe.

The focus will also be on his obsessive and volatile connection to his wife Josephine who divorced from Austria in 1810.

The title of this film stems from the statement, "There's a general staff in every kit bag of soldiers" and focuses on Napoleon's relentless ambition to be one of the greatest military leaders in history.

Lastly, Phoenix working on the roman epic Gladiator in 2000 in which he played the villainous Commodus was nominated for an academy award with the British filmmaker.

The Last Duel, with Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, and Maat Damon, has just wrapped Scott production in another historical drama. It tells the true medieval story of the last duel in France that was legally sanctioned.

Filmmakers will also be preparing to film Gucci's drama in Italy next March, which is based on stars like Lady Gaga, Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Driver, and Jared Leto.

Scott has worked with screenwriter David Scarpa who wrote the script for the historical epic of Napoleon in his 2018 play All the Money in the World.
