US Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden says on Tuesday that the next Presidential Debate which was on next week shouldn’t take place if US President Donald Trump is still infected with the coronavirus.
After the campaign in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Biden told the reporters, “If he still has COVID, we shouldn’t have a debate.”
However, he added that the October 15 debate in Miami should only be staged under strict health guidelines and called the coronavirus outbreak that has hit Trump and a wave of other White House officials "a very serious problem."
Biden also said the debate would have to have “very strict guidelines” and, similar to how he says he would manage the pandemic more broadly, stated he would do “what the [doctors] say is the right thing to do.”
An official says that Biden has been tested four times since Trump tested positive, he tested twice on Friday, once on Sunday and once on Tuesday and reports are negative all the time.
Trump said Tuesday he is “looking forward” to the debate and that it will be “great,” after he tested positive for the virus on Friday and was hospitalized at Walter Reed Medical Center for treatment over the weekend.
