At least 17 people were killed in a powerful car bomb explosion in an Afghan city in Logar province on Thursday.
The blast happened near the governor’s office and where people were shopping for the Muslim festival of Eid al-Adha.
The bombing came hours before a three-day ceasefire declared by the Taliban during the festival of Eid.
The attack was believed to have been carried out by suicide car bomb, Dedar Lawang, spokesman for Logar's governor, told the AFP news agency.
The Taliban denied responsibility for the attack, statement from Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid and further added attack had “nothing to do” with the group.
While the Islamic State has not yet commented about the attack.
The Afghan government and Taliban have agreed on a three-day ceasefire starting Friday.
