President Donald Trump warned on Tuesday that the Covid-19 pandemic in the US is likely to worsen before improving, warning Americans that the country had not yet seen the worst of it.
After a three-month break from his daily virus briefings, Trump returned to the podium, keeping the stage to himself without the public expert.
In a press conference that lasted around 30 minutes, Mr. Trump who was not wearing a mask at the briefing asked all Americans to wear face coverings, sayings “they’ll have an effect” and help to stop the spread of the virus.
The President’s late afternoon appearance offered his most realistic picture yet of the challenges facing Americans as case continue to rise, has largely been absent in discussing the health crisis destroying the country, and has seen his poll number plunged as a result.
When asked whether he would be responsible if the pandemic gets worse and people continue dying, Mr. Trump said, the coronavirus will “just disappear” and continued to stand by his claim.
He added the American response to the pandemic was “much better” than in other places.
