New Delhi- India now has become the third-highest corona affected country in the world overtaking Russia according to its health ministry.
In the last 24 hours, the highest number of cases were recorded in a single day. The Union Health Ministry on Monday reported there were 24,248 new cases of the pandemic (Covid-19).
India’s death toll rose to 425 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, pushing the total to about 697,412.
More than 11 million infections and 536,776 deaths have been recorded worldwide.
The country’s death toll rose to 19,693 and there are 253,287 active cases, according to the health ministry’s. There are 424,432 people who have been successfully discharged across the country till date, has pushed the recovery rate to 60%.
Maharashtra is the financial capital Mumbai has most of the country’s Covid-19 cases at 206,615 and 8,882 people deaths so far. Whereas, Tamil Nadu is the second-worst-affected state.
India imposed a stringent lockdown in March to control the spread of the virus but has been reduced in recent weeks to resume economic activity.
Epidemiologists warned that the risk of corona in India would increase in the coming weeks and months.
