World Health Organization (WHO) is now working with China for the treatment of COVID-19 and control the pandemic as many new cases have been confirmed from Sunday.
According to China’s municipal health commission, the local authorities conducted nucleic acid tests on Sunday on 76,499 people and among them 59 testings positive for COVID-19.
WHO's a team in China is working closely with officials from China's National Health Commission and China's Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other CDCs around China.
According to WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, in a press conference on Monday says, "The origin and extent of the outbreak are being investigated, even in countries that have demonstrated the ability to suppress transmission, countries must stay alert to the possibility of resurgence."
The WHO COVID-19 Incident Management Team is also working closely with partners across all levels to provide support to countries, strengthen technical and operational networking and collaboration, and support operational coordination of the global response.
From the time when the first cases of COVID-19 were identified in Wuhan City, China, in December 2019, WHO has been at the forefront of the country’s containment efforts.
WHO Country Office in China, supported by the Regional Office for the Western Pacific and global headquarters, has provided the Government of China with technical advice on detection, testing, isolation, and quarantine measures to support a rapid response to contain the outbreak.
