The polls released Thursday show former Vice President Joe Biden leading President Trump in the critical battleground state of Michigan, where Trump is scheduled to visit a facility manufacturing protective equipment.

A poll from conservative Restoration PAC shows Biden leading Trump by 9 points in the state, up two points since April, while Democratic Senator Gary Peters leads Republican opponent John James by 12 points.

Trump trails presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, 51% to 45%, in Michigan, according to the survey by Public Policy Polling for the health care advocacy group Protect Our Care.

Further, the poll suggests that Trump's handling of the coronavirus pandemic is damaging his prospects in the state. The survey revealed that 6 in 10 voters said Trump and his administration deserve a great deal or at least some responsibility for the loss of both American lives and U.S. jobs from the virus.

The president's approval rating in the Midwest battleground is underwater, with 44% of voters approving of him compared to 51% disapproving, the survey found.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who Trump has frequently criticized throughout the crisis, received positive marks for her response at 55% approve, 38% disapprove, while 58% said they trust her more to reopen the state compared to 36% who trust Trump.

The survey, which was conducted May 18-19, comes as Trump fights with Michigan and its Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer, over both the response to the coronavirus and the plans the state has to ensure voter access during the pandemic.
