6.4 magnitude earthquake felt in western Nevada early morning

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, an earthquake with 6.4 magnitude hits Tonopah, Nevada, halfway between Reno and Las Vegas, and has been felt across parts of the Bay Area and across California.

This earthquake struck about 4.7 miles deep, the USGS said, and it was followed by a series of aftershocks, the largest registered at 5.1 and two 4.9 magnitudes.

People from Salt Lake City, Bay area, and also from California’s Central Valley tweeted that they felt the quake. More than 14,000 people reported about the earthquake.

More than a dozen aftershocks have also been reported in the same area since the first quake hits.
