The Fikuri Trek: new trekking destination explored

Nepal is known as trekking paradise for tourists from all over the world. With over dozens of world's best trekking destinations, many are being affected due to the rapid development of rural road expansions in recent years.

A 5 days exploration and fam trip of "Fikuri trek" has been successfully concluded on Thursday. The main objective of the trip was to explore new trekking destination nearby capital city and familiarize travel and trek entrepreneurs, guides, journalists  about this fresh trekking destination , says Urja Tamang, a trek entrepreneur and coordinator of the trip.

Dipak Mahat, Executive Board Member of NTB expressed concern over several trekking destinations that has been shortened due to rural roads constructions.

In this context he added, 'Fikuri trek is potential trekking trail which offers experiencing people's culture, lifestyles and excellent view of Langtang, Gosaikunda, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu and several others.'
Likewise, Shiva Lamichhane, Vice President of RNPS briefed about the organization working actively in social activities including tourism exploration and promotion in Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts . He hopes new trek will offer trekkers to experience village culture and lifestyles including nature and Himalayan views.

Similary, Dinesh Tamang Blon , tourism entrepreneur and a key member of the organizer says, Fikuri trek is low Himalayan range trail that is suitable for all type of trekkers includding children, adult and family.

Like manner, Gagan Raj Neupane, one of the members of the organizer says 'We need more such tourism products to cater our trekkers who repeatedly visits Nepal.' Fikuri trail will definitely serve as a cultural trek that can be extended and interconnect with Tamang heritage trail and Ruby valley trek.  

Ritu Gyamdan, treasure of TAAN, says her organization will be always be ready to assist in trail development and promotion of this new trek . 'It is good news for all trekking agencies to get Fikuri Trek as a new trekking destination.'

In likewise Gopal Thapa , Vice President of VITOF says , the trail passes through several beautiful mountain villages like Surya gadi, Kispang, Thulogaon and other villages. 'Many of these villages has great feasibility of operating homestay.'

According to the organizer, the identification and introduction of new trekking route will help in diversifying tourism products. The 7 days Fikuri trek can be interlinked to Ruby valley trek , Tamang heritage trail,Langtang trek and Gosaikunda trek which will take 2 to 3 weeks long duration.

In recent trip , the team has visited Chokade, Suryagadi, Manegaun, Kispang, Kaule, Bhalchhe, Fikuri, Taaji, Satdobato, Thulogaon, Paire, Shanti bazaar, Ghalegadi and Kalikasthan.

They also visited historical sites of 7 storey Nuwakot palace, Suryagadi, Nepal's oldest goat farm at Bhalchhe, religious sites of Kispang monastery, temples and lakes. They were given warm welcome by local communities of different municipalities and performed cultural programs at many villages of Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.   

Fikuri Trek is fresh trekking trail situated at less than 100 km distance from Kathmandu towards north from the city.

The highest viewpoint is Fikuri dada (3800m), from where magnificiant views of Langtang Lirung (7,234m), Ganesh himal (7,422m), Manaslu (8,163 m), and Gosaikunda (4,380m) can be witnessed closely.

Alongside different ethnicity like Tamang, Brahman, Chhetri, Gurung and Dalit lives with harmony for centuries. It is unique opportunities to observe and enjoy their culture, tradition and lifestyles.  

A group of over 40 people consisting of tourism entrepreneurs, climbers, guides, porters and journalists has taken part in the fam trip organized by Rasuwa Nuwakot Paryatan Samaj (RNPS) Likewise, representatives from Nepal Tourism Board, TAAN, VITOF  and NMA were also involved in the fam trip held from  23- 27 Feb 2020.

The five days exploration and fam trip was promoted by Nepal Tourism Board and co-supported by Kalika & Uttargaya rural municipality of Rasuwa district and Bidur Municipality, Suryagadi & Kispang rural municipality of Nuwakot district in  the local level.
