According to Syrian media reports, Israel conducted airstrikes in Syria, notably at an airport in Aleppo, in the predawn hours of Wednesday.
According to the reports, the international airport was targeted by multiple missiles for the second time in recent weeks.
There were no early reports of injuries or damage, nor were there any details regarding the exact targets of the bombings.
According to other sources, separate airstrikes hit locations near the capital, Damascus and Latakia, on the Mediterranean coast.
Consistent with its policy of not generally commenting on air raids in Syria, the Israel Defense Forces did not issue a statement. In recent years, Israel is thought to have conducted hundreds of strikes on targets within government-controlled areas of Syria, including airstrikes on the Damascus and Aleppo airports, but rarely admits or discusses these operations.
Israel has admitted, however, that it attacks bases of Iran-aligned groups such as Hezbollah, which has dispatched thousands of men to bolster Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces. Israel considers Iran's growth throughout Syria a persistent threat to its national security. It has undertaken strikes against diverse targets to degrade Iran's military presence in the region.
Earlier this month, Israel-attributed bombings forced the Aleppo International Airport to close its runway for several days.
SANA reported that Israel carried out a rare daytime attack against targets in northwestern Syria, injuring three soldiers and causing damage.
Last month's fatal 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria caused significant damage to Aleppo, which the Syrian civil war had severely ravaged. Several countries, including Syria's ally Iran, have since dispatched relief packages to the city's airport.
The bombing targeting the airport earlier this month was deemed a "crime against humanity" by Iran and Syria.
In January, the Syrian army claimed that Israeli armed forces fired missiles against the international airport in Damascus, briefly rendering it inoperable and killing two troops. This operation was prompted by Israeli concerns that the Damascus airport was being used to smuggle Iranian weapons into Syria.
Last August, Syria accused Israel of being behind two consecutive airstrikes at Aleppo International Airport and a site near Damascus International Airport. According to reports, Israel was intensifying its efforts to target airports to counter Iran's increasing use of commercial flights to bring in military supplies.
