AFP reported on Wednesday that former US President Donald Trump hinted that FBI officers might have been  "planting" evidence at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida following a dramatic raid earlier this week.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, "The FBI and others from the Federal Government would not let anyone, including my lawyers, be anywhere near the areas that were rummaged and otherwise looked at during the raid on Mar-a-Lago,"

"They wanted to be left alone, without witnesses to see what they were doing, stealing, or ideally not "planting," he added.

The FBI declined to comment on the Mar-a-Lago raid. Still, sources told Politico that the search of Trump's Florida residence was part of an investigation into his handling of presidential documents.

In February, the National Archives and Records Administration stated that it had requested Mar-a-Lago records, including sensitive information, that had been inappropriately removed.

Trump and other prominent Republicans have denounced the raid as politically motivated and a "weaponization" of the Department of Justice.

Trump stated of the FBI operation, "Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before,"

Considering another White House bid in 2024, Trump questioned in a post published on Wednesday why his Democratic opponents, former president Barack Obama and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, were never subjected to the same scrutiny.

Despite significant disagreements, Obama and Clinton were never "Obama and Clinton were never 'raided,' despite big disputes!" he claimed.
