During a speech the day after the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, Donald Trump refused to acknowledge that he had lost the 2020 election, according to a new video released by the House committee probing the attack on Thursday.

"I don't want to say the election is over," Trump remarked in a tape captured as he practiced January 7, 2021, address written by White House staff to encourage calm after a mob of the then-supporters president launched a violent attack to overturn his election loss.

During Thursday's House of Representatives Select Committee hearing probing the January 6 attack, previously unseen footage was shown.

"I just want to say Congress has certified the results without saying the elections over, OK?" Trump stated. Unseen off-camera, his eldest daughter Ivanka was heard assisting with the speech's revision.

In the speech's version that was broadcast then, Trump only stated, "Now the results have been confirmed by Congress. On January 20, a new administration will be installed."

Thursday's hearing centered on Trump's alleged inaction during the 187 minutes between the end of his incendiary rally speech asking supporters to march on the Capitol and the distribution of a video telling them to go home.
