Queen Elizabeth II began the celebration commemorating her Platinum Jubilee at Buckingham Palace with a rehearsed skit featuring Paddington Bear, portrayed by actor Ben Whishaw.
Paddington sat for tea with the monarch in the short film "Ma'amalade sandwich Your Majesty?," before drinking it all and accidentally splattering cream on a royal footman.
Paddington then offers Queen Elizabeth a marmalade sandwich from his characteristic red hat.
"Maybe you'd enjoy a marmalade sandwich. I always keep one in reserve "Paddington says in a YouTube video uploaded by the Royal Family.
The Queen says that she also carries a marmalade sandwich in her purse, which she then displays to Paddington.
"So do I. I save mine in here for later, "she asserts
Page Six of the New York Post stated that viewers of the skit at the "Platinum Party at the Palace" tribute performance were happy that the Queen had disclosed what she carried in her purse.
The farce concluded with Paddington and the monarch tapping their teacups to the song "We Will Rock You" by the band Queen as the actual concert, which she did not attend, began.
"Her Majesty is well known for her sense of humor, so it should be no surprise that she decided to take part in tonight's sketch," a representative for Buckingham Palace told the Telegraph.
"There was an interest in the filming and animation process and the opportunity to invite a famous bear to tea was just too much fun to miss."
Musical giants such as Diana Ross, Elton John, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Duran Duran, Nile Rodgers, Alicia Keys, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Rod Stewart, and Andrea Bocelli performed.
The third day of a four-day celebration commemorating Queen Elizabeth's exceptional 70 years on the British throne has concluded.
Prince Charles and Prince William delivered addresses honoring the monarch's "lifetime of service." However, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were absent since they spent the day with their children.
