The 10th General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has started.
Speaking at a press conference at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the chief patron of the association, Shesh Ghale, informed that the general convention has started.
He said that NRNA was working for the prosperity of Nepal.
"Our job is to teach the skills learned abroad in Nepal," he said. "Our aim is to make Nepal better."
Stating that there was recently an earthquake inside the NRN, he said, "We have got an opportunity to learn a lot from this earthquake."
He said that partnership was essential in the dispute.
'As we learned from the earthquake in Nepal. Similarly, we are in the process of rebuilding the organization, "he said." Every day is different. No one knows what will happen tomorrow, but we should wish for the better. Let's all move forward together; it will suit the organization. "
Why the controversy?
The general convention was to be held in October; this time, there was a dispute in the NRNA due to the problem in the election of representatives, said Krishna KC, spokesperson of the association.
He said that the dispute arose because there was no choice this time.
'Some people in the organization tried to hold the convention in their way, but it was not possible. That is why it has become controversial, "he said.
He also said that the matter had reached the court as no agreement had been gone for the general convention.
"The dispute has not been settled for a long time, so it went to court, but it did not end there," KC said.
He said that he had sought the help of the Legislature as the dispute was not settled in the court.
According to the constitution, in case of dispute in the organization or the organization has not grown, the 'National Union Council should arrange the primary protection.'
That's why the council convened a meeting of the chairpersons, listened to their decisions, and settled the dispute accordingly, "he said." The general convention started after the dispute was settled.
He said that the general convention started as soon as the dispute was over, and preparations for the delegates were also underway.
"I don't know who will be the representative for the election, but the consent of the chairman is required for the candidate," he said.
He said that there should be different quotas for candidates, and they should be central members to become international presidents.
Stating that there will be the participation of eligible people in the general convention, and there will be a claim among the candidates, he says, "the one who gets the most votes among the claimants will run the organization for two years."
He says people from different countries will announce their candidacies, and 500 people will be able to vote. "So far, 184 candidates from 28 countries have applied," he said.
