The government has declared that it will lift all remaining restrictions on overseas travel for all travelers ahead of the Easter holidays (Monday 14 March).

All Covid-19 travel restrictions, including the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) for arrivals into the UK and all testing for travelers who do not qualify as vaccinated, will be withdrawn at 4 a.m. on Friday, 18 March. As a result of this adjustment, unvaccinated travelers will no longer be required to complete a pre-departure test or a day two post-arrival test.

"The UK is leading the world in removing all remaining Covid-19 travel restrictions, and today's announcement is a testament to the hard work that everyone in this country has put in to roll out the vaccine and protect one another," Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said.

"I stated that we would not maintain travel restrictions longer than necessary. Today, we are offering other welcome news and increased flexibility for travelers ahead of the Easter holidays.

"I look forward to working with the travel industry and global partners to keep international travel moving."

"As we adjust to life with Covid, we're taking additional steps to reopen international travel ahead of the Easter holidays," Health and Social Care Secretary Sajid Javid said.

"We will continue to monitor and track potential new variants and will maintain a reserve of measures that can be rapidly deployed to keep us safe if necessary."

"We are able to lift these final restrictions as a result of the phenomenal success of our vaccination program, which has boosted more than 8 out of 10 adults in the UK."

To safeguard public health, the government will reserve a range of contingency measures that, if necessary, will enable it to take rapid and appropriate action to prevent the entry of any future dangerous forms of Covid-19 into the UK.

Additionally, the UKHSA will maintain a careful eye on the occurrence and transmission of dangerous variations and will keep an eye on international statistics.

While there will be no border health checks upon arrival in the UK beginning 18 March, other nations are in varying epidemic phases. Many continue to need travelers to adhere to criteria.

Travelers should continue to consult GOV.UK travel guidance, especially Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO) travel advice, ensures they are up to date on entry requirements for other countries.

Additionally, passengers are recommended to carefully review booking restrictions to ensure that they have the option of modifying their bookings before purchasing tickets. Individuals will continue to access their immunization and recovery records via the NHS Covid Pass, which they can use when traveling abroad.
