Local news outlets stated that Belarusian troops have been transferred to the Ukrainian border.

Belarus, a close ally of Russia, moved military equipment and forces in what it called a counter-terrorism drill, the latest in a flurry of military activities that have aroused concerns that Russia may launch a new invasion on Ukraine from the territory of its ally Belarus.

Russia and Belarus are legally part of a "union state" and have tight economic and military ties, with Moscow using Belarus as a staging area for its invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

As part of the drill launched on Tuesday, troops in western and eastern Belarus will be required to immediately relocate to "specified places," utilize equipment, and construct bridge crossings over the Neman and Berezina rivers.

"During this period, it is intended to relocate military equipment and troops, as well as temporarily restrict the movement of civilians (transport) over specific public highways and areas of terrain," the document stated.
