Meghan Markle confessed that she was aware that her handwritten letter to her father Thomas Markle could be made public, and she blamed Buckingham Palace for pressuring her to resolve her differences with him.

Meghan's assertions that the letter was a private note "for her father's eyes only" were recently refuted by Jason Knauf, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's press secretary at Kensington Palace. "Everything I have drafted is with the idea it could be leaked," the Duchess stated in a statement to the Court of Appeal in the royal's libel complaint against a media for publishing the letter.

"Honestly Jason, I feel fantastic, cathartic and real and honest and factual and if he leaks it then that's on his conscience and then at least the world will know the truth. Words I could never voice, publicly," the Duchess wrote in another text, as per Mail Online.

Meghan said in another message that she is referring to her father in the letter as "daddy" to "tug at the heart chords" in case he leaks it. She says in her letter, "Given that I've only ever addressed him as daddy, it could make sense to do so now, despite his paternal status. And if it did happen to leak, it would tug at the heartstrings. The rest is based on facts rather than appearing staged or litigious."

Following the news, the "Suits" alum revealed that she thought her letter might be published, but emphasized that she never intended for it to be. The 40-year-old went on to say that she simply wrote the letter to demand an end to "public attacks" on the royal family.

"Senior members of the family and their advisers expressed their concern over the public attacks, and expressed their desire to have them stopped. I was especially sensitive to this as I had very recently married into the family and was eager to please them," she said in her statement to the Court of Appeal.

When two royals asked her to deal with her father, she referred to them as "While my husband and I were seated with Senior Member B, I was told that Senior Member A was on the phone and wished to speak to me," she wrote. In the presence of Senior Member B and my spouse, the phone was passed to me, and we discussed the matter."

Even if her attempt to prevent her father from speaking to the media fails despite the letter, the Duchess believes that her husband will be able to tell his family that she did everything she could to prevent him.
